Here from the confines of my current isolation, after more than two years of doing what I am told and trying to stay safe by washing my hands thoroughly, wearing masks when needed, etc. I finally succumbed to catching COVID ☹
When you start to experience something for yourself, that you have heard from other people’s explanations, it tends to have a whole new ‘Oh’ revelation for you – where just the telling does not seem to cut it!
What has now prompted this epistle of mine is that one of the above symptoms, ‘Loss of taste or smell’ has now made me go back and re-read what I wrote on a recent blog I posted on 9/7/2022 about our five senses…. ‘If you can’t smell it, you probably won’t taste it very well’
Smell – I believe that smell disorders are treated by an otolaryngologist, a doctor who specializes in diseases of the ear, nose, throat etc. We are taken to another dimension when we can smell something of our childhood, pass by a food store we love or even enjoy the aroma of flowers that brighten our day. Smell is a powerful link in our memory banks that we should not take for granted!
Taste – chefs are masters of taste and can create the most amazing and tantalizing food sensations. Cook in movie above was obviously very good at what he did with food. We should never underestimate the power of love that goes into creating something cooked or baked for another. Taste is a very unique sense as something loved by one can be totally disgusting to another (my husband loves rice pudding & I can’t stand the stuff).
Quote from Blog 9/7/2022
In doing my best to maintain a comfortable living existence while experiencing this awful virus I have been cocooning myself in lots of warmth and other products that will soothe, as much as possible, all those areas that are screaming out in need! One product, Vicks VapoRub, which you rub on the chest to help breathe better has a very distinctive and overpowering menthol & Eucalypt aroma which I discovered this week I cannot smell! Which in turn made me realize why a lot of my food has not tasted the same!
My eldest daughter has struggled all her life with not having a great sense of smell and so I have now had a ‘small’ understanding of why she possibly struggled eating when younger as things probably tasted like cardboard to her! Things that I have really enjoyed eating in the past, have over this last week had no interest to me.
I am ashamed to admit that it has taken me this many years to slowly understand the diversity of differences that everyone experiences – which is why the Lord chooses to use a ‘diversity’ of people like us to reach those that are lost! We all have a uniqueness about us that God knows will speak to others in need!
‘…each of you is a unique and vital part…’ – 1 Corinthians 12:27 TPT
Before getting married my husband and I were part of a group of young people from an independent church fellowship, (that church has gone on to become INCHURCH) with 'a burning' in our hearts to reach the Nations for Jesus Christ and so we all attended Bible College together.
Although my/our journeys have been very different to date (some are now senior pastors of their own churches – see links below), I know that God has personally orchestrated the most amazing friendships, connections and more using me to touch the lives of many over the years in my personal journey.
I am also in awe of the abundant blessing that God has been to those others in our Bible College class, for the impact they have all been in choosing to say YES to what God wanted for their lives!
Let me state, that I am not sharing this to say I am disappointed at all with where God has taken me, not at all – as I would not have the wonderful friendships that have been formed to date. I am doing my best to express God's unique plan and purpose for us all through the way He created us to be!

While having COVID, I wish to honour my Heavenly Father today, being the first day of August because I love to journal and have discovered that the meaning of the word AUGUST is the following:
inspiring reverence or admiration; of supreme dignity or grandeur, majestic; respect, honour
So, I am going to do my best this month to do just that and give my loving Heavenly Father all that is due to Him!
“…Stand up and bless (praise, honour) the Lord your God from [a]everlasting to everlasting. May Your glorious name be blessed And exalted above all blessing and praise.” – Nehemiah 9:5 AMP
‘Let all the earth fear and worship the Lord; Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him.’ – Psalm 33:8 AMP
