When recently discussing life’s current circumstances with ‘someone I love dearly’ and having a wee whinge to them about why certain things were not going according to plan – they then said to me…
‘Are you dousing the Holy Spirit within you with lemon juice?’
ME = ‘Excuse me?’
Not sure about you but I do love to eat ‘sweet & sour’ food items and especially lemon meringue pie – the sharper the lemon flavour the better! But I am guessing, like a cut on our finger, if we handle lemon juice it will sting like crazy, and we would do all we could to wash it away!
If the Holy Spirit was receiving from me, the Lemon Juice dousing my dearly loved someone pointed out then obviously there was something wrong that I needed to deal with and attend to immediately.
Together we explored the why’s and wherefore's of these circumstances and accepted some wonderful input along the way from others to assist us in our pursuit of understanding. What really stood out for me was not the ‘DRIVE’ to push harder to make things right but the ability to be ‘SOOTHING’ in the process of it becoming right in God’s perfect timing – ‘my times are in your hands:’ Ps 31:15 AMP
Because of this, it becomes easier to process things like…
I think together we made a huge leap forward in accepting a better way of understanding for ourselves moving forward. I know that for myself, my heavenly father's word says it best …
God made my life complete when I placed all the pieces before him. When I got my act together, he gave me a fresh start. Now I’m alert to God’s ways; I don’t take God for granted. Every day I review the ways he works; I try not to miss a trick. I feel put back together, and I’m watching my step. God rewrote the text of my life when I opened the book of my heart to his eyes. – Ps 18:20-24 MSG
The Lord Jesus has so much for us to accomplish for Him while we are here, but if our focus is taken away on the unimportant and unnecessary that happens around us then we are unable to enjoy the abundance of blessings we can receive by following in our planned purpose for this season.
I am so looking forward to what is up ahead, and I am going to do my best to push to the front of the line for everything God desires to pass on.
Lyrics to chorus in Hymn
Fill my cup, Lord I lift it up, Lord Come and quench this thirsting in my soul Bread of Heaven feed me till I want no more Fill my cup, fill it up and make me whole
‘..my cup brims with blessing.’ – Ps 23:5 MSG
‘blessed…are those who…thirst for righteousness…for they will be…satisfied.’ – Matthew 5:6 AMP
